The Parable of the Broken Blade

A farmer once had vast fields of ripened grain. When he looked upon them, he saw that many stalks of wheat had their blades bent and broken.

So he called his reapers and said, “We will not keep the stalks whose blades are broken. Go, cut them down and burn them.”

And they went forth and did as he commanded.

After many days, the farmer returned to measure his harvest, but not a single kernel of grain could he find.

Puzzled, he called for his harvesters and said, “Where is my grain?”

They answered, “We did exactly as you said. We gathered and burned all the stalks with broken blades, and not one was left to bring into the barn.”

Then the farmer understood his folly — for in rejecting the broken, he had destroyed the whole harvest.

If God were to save only those whose blades have never been broken — those perfect in His sight — who then would be saved?

He who has an ear, let him hear.
